Partner with teens and young adults (ages 12-22) with disabilities and/or autism at a fun summer day camp working for a local non-profit. Supports include personal care, behavioral supports, and help with camp activities. Counselors will ensure safety and quality services for all campers in attendance. Essential functions: Work in a group setting with campers to facilitate recreational based learning and fun summer activities.Supervise and monitor campers to ensure health and safety. Empower campers to make appropriate decisions and practice self-advocacy skills. Demonstrate the ability to stay calm in a variety of situations.Work as part of a team with other counselors.Be accepting and respectful of people who think, behave, and interact differently. Qualifications: At least eighteen (18) years of age. Pass background screening including criminal record, driving record, and Sex Offender Registry.Experience supporting individuals with IDD or autism preferred (this includes ABA skills). Must be punctual, reliable and professional. Work involves talking, hearing, sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing stairs, using hands to handle objects or operate tools. May be required to push, pull, lift or carry up to 50 pounds, physically transfer individuals, and perform CPR / First Aid. (CPR/FA course provided if needed).Program DetailsYou may be assigned to one or two locations in Cary or Morrisville, NCMonday-Friday 8:30am - 3:00/4:00pm (Other schedules may be available.)Paid training begins June 1Program Dates: June 15th- August 14th.Must be able to commit to the whole summer, unless approved by Camp Director. Pay: $15.50-$16.50/hour
