A respected regional law firm with a strong presence across Texas and Louisiana is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy & Restructuring Attorney to join its Houston office. POSITION OVERVIEW The ideal candidate will have substantial experience handling Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 matters, including complex restructurings, workouts, and distressed financial matters for a diverse client base across multiple industries. The role offers meaningful client interaction, hands-on litigation experience, and the opportunity to work closely with sophisticated business clients in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. RESPONSIBILITIES Represent clients in Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, including complex restructuring and insolvency mattersAdvise secured creditors, unsecured creditors, trustees, committees, debtors, and other stakeholders in distressed situationsHandle workouts, restructurings, and asset protection strategies for business clients across a variety of industriesDraft and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, proofs of claim, and other bankruptcy-related filingsAssist with case strategy, legal research, briefing, courtroom support, and hearing preparationAttend creditor meetings, court hearings, and other bankruptcy proceedingsCommunicate directly with Bankruptcy Courts, Trustees, local counsel, opposing counsel, and clients regarding active mattersReview financial and corporate records to advise clients on risk exposure and restructuring optionsManage matters independently while collaborating closely with attorneys across the practice groupSupport client development initiatives and help maintain and expand professional referral relationshipsQUALIFICATIONS Licensed and in good standing to practice law in TexasMinimum of 5 years of Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy experienceExperience handling complex Chapter 11 matters, workouts, and restructuring transactionsStrong drafting, research, analytical, and courtroom advocacy skillsAbility to manage multiple matters in a deadline-driven environmentStrong communication and interpersonal skills with a client-service-oriented approachExcellent academic credentials and professional references preferredDemonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environmentBusiness development interest or experience is a plusWHAT WE OFFER Competitive compensation structure based on experience and class yearBonus opportunities tied to collections, productivity, and business originationBillable requirement of approximately 1900 hours annuallyWriting sample and law school transcripts requested as part of the application processCollaborative and entrepreneurial legal environmentDirect client contact and substantive responsibility from day oneOpportunity to work on sophisticated bankruptcy and restructuring matters across multiple industriesClear path for long-term growth and professional developmentComprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, and 401(k) benefits
