Crisis Nurse - Per Diem

As the Crisis Nurse on the team, you will provide attentive care to clients during some of their most vulnerable moments. Throughout each shift, you will thoughtfully assess client needs, develop and adjust care plans, and ensure treatment supports both safety and respect. You will facilitate continuous improvements through quality assurance and utilization review, serve as a trusted clinical role model, and offer guidance and support to colleagues within their assigned areas.About The Welcoming CenterThe Welcoming Center is a nurturing, home-like receiving facility dedicated to supporting children and youth in Santa Clara County who face the challenges of placement disruption. Our multi-disciplinary team offers safety, care, comfort, and therapeutic support around the clock, ensuring that young people receive the immediate attention they need, 24/7. We serve young individuals who have recently been removed from their homes, are returning after an elopement, or have experienced a sudden loss of placement. Upon arrival, children and youth are greeted by empathetic and well-trained therapists and counselors. Our programs deeply engage in conversations and training on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to bring equity and justice to the youth and families we serve.ResponsibilitiesEvaluate illness or injuriesMonitor Physician orders for medication or treatment, and prescriptions filled at outside pharmaciesArrange appointments or receive orders for treatments when nursing expertise is required to facilitate the processOngoing training with staff on medications and handling medicationsProvide other health-related education to staff and clientsDocument all nursing interventions, including maintaining medication assistance recordsReview all medical incident reports for shiftsParticipate in multidisciplinary team meetingsMeet regularly with the Program Director and Psychiatrists as requestedCollaborate with Psychiatrist to ensure quality of medication administration, adequate consents, medical treatment and follow-upCollaborate with Clinical Manager to ensure health and safety, infection control, resource utilization, and clinical and rehabilitative standards of careAttend appropriate treatment reviews related to health care for youthProvide on-call support for nursing questions, as neededEmploy crisis communication and de-escalation techniques if necessaryQualificationsREQUIRED:Bachelors of Science in Nursing ORADN or equivalentValid California Registered Nurse LicenseCurrent CPR – BLS certificationMust be at least 21 years of ageValid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability through Seneca Family of Agencies’ insurance policyTB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements PreferredGood critical-thinking, communication, and organization skillsPsychiatric Nursing experienceBilingual Spanish skill setSCHEDULE Per diem; number of shifts will varySaturday - Sunday; 10am - 8pmEvery other weekendOn-call Saturday evening/nightBenefitsStarting $60.10 - $62.60 per hour, commensurate with experienceAdditional compensation provided upon passing bilingual language proficiency examSalary increases each year
