DescriptionThe Wisconsin Virtual Academies (WVA) comprise three public charter schools authorized by the McFarland School District and powered by Stride K12, Inc. (Wisconsin Virtual Academy, Insight School of Wisconsin, and Destinations Career Academy). Our mission is to provide equitable, personalized learning opportunities for students no matter where they are, who they are, or what they need. We are seeking a dynamic, motivated, and organized candidate for a full-time Bilingual Resource Teacher (BRT). This position was added due to growth. Our selective interview process ensures we identify candidates who are passionate about helping students succeed, collaborative, adept at multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment, innovative, solution-oriented, and excited for the unique realities of an online learning environment.Position Summary:The bilingual resource teacher (BRT) provides targeted instructional support for multilingual learners to ensure equitable access to the general education curriculum. This role focuses on helping students develop academic language proficiency while supporting content learning across the curriculum. The BRT collaborates with classroom teachers, specialists, families, and students to design and deliver instruction that meets the linguistic and academic needs of diverse learners.Key Responsibilities:Provide direct instruction to bilingual/multilingual learners in individual and small-group settingsSupport development of English language proficiency (listening, speaking, reading, writing) and access to grade level contentDifferentiate instruction based on students' language proficiency and academic needsUse research-based strategies for English language development and culturally responsive teachingCollaborate with general education teachers to co-plan and implement effective supports for multilingual learnersAssist in modifying and scaffolding instructional materials to ensure accessibilityParticipate in recurring all-staff, school-wide, department, and team meetingsAssess students' language proficiency and academic progress using formal and informal measuresMonitor students' progress and maintain documentation of student growth, adjusting instruction as neededUse data to inform instruction and intervention strategiesCommunicate with families, support engagement, provide culturally and linguistically appropriate resources, and participate in conferences/outreach effortsAssist in implementing district/state bilingual or ESL programming requirementsMaintain compliance with local, state, and federal laws as they pertain to English learnersContribute to curriculum development and instructional planning for multilingual learnersQualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education, Bilingual Education, ESL, or a related field (required)Valid teaching licenseESL, Bilingual Education, or TESOL endorsement/certificationMust have solid organizational and time management skillsFluent in both English and Spanish (strongly preferred)Experience working with multilingual learners in a PK-12 settingKnowledge of second language acquisition and sheltered instruction strategiesStrong communication and collaboration skillsAdept at learning and navigating multiple student information systems and other platformsFamiliarity with Microsoft 365 (e.g., Office, Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)Other Considerations:This position offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package, including but not limited to: insurance (health, vision, dental), annual bonuses, and a 401K with up to a 6% match.
