JV Girls Basketball Coach

Summary Gooding High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to serve as the JV Girls Basketball Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes. This seasonal position requires effective communication skills, the ability to motivate young athletes, and a strong emphasis on teamwork and sportsmanship. Responsibilities - Develop and implement practice plans that focus on skill development, teamwork, and game strategies. - Coach and mentor student-athletes during practices and games, providing constructive feedback and support. - Monitor and assess the performance of players, helping them to improve their skills and understanding of the game. - Organize and manage game schedules, including transportation and communication with parents and players. - Promote a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and a love for the game. - Collaborate with the head coach and other coaching staff to align team goals and strategies. - Ensure compliance with all school and league policies, including safety protocols and eligibility requirements. - Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as required. - Foster relationships with players, parents, and the community to enhance the overall basketball program. Requirements - Previous coaching experience in basketball, preferably at the high school level. - Strong understanding of basketball rules, strategies, and training techniques. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with student-athletes and their families. - Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to reach their full potential. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. - First Aid and CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain prior to the season. - Must pass a background check as required by school district policies. - Availability for evening and weekend practices and games throughout the season. - A positive attitude and a commitment to promoting sportsmanship and teamwork.
