Sr. Java Developer
OverviewBigBear.ai is seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to modernize a critical government information system. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in enterprise Java application development and a proven track record of upgrading complex software infrastructures in secure, regulated environments.You will be responsible for planning and elligence reporting frameworks, secure coding practices, and upgrading and migrating Solr index data is essential. Experience with PrimeFaces UI framework is a plus. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, ncluding security, infrastructure, and business stakeholders, to ensure seamless upgrades with minimal operational disruption.What You Will DoCore Development & Modernization:Plan and execute technology stack upgrades for enterprise Java applications in secure government environmentsDevelop and maintain Java/Python components on Windows-based VMware infrastructureModernize legacy application code to current standards and best practicesImplement secure coding practices in compliance with government security requirementsInfrastructure & IntegrationUpgrade Apache Solr clusters with Zookeeper coordinationMigrate and optimize Solr index data during version upgradesManage Apache Tomcat application server configurations and deploymentsIntegrate applications with Oracle 19c database systemsWork with Apache Directory Studio for directory services integrationSupport SAP Business Intelligence reporting framework integrationsCollaboration & DocumentationCollaborate with security, infrastructure, and business stakeholder teamsEnsure minimal operational disruption during system upgradesDocument technical designs, upgrade procedures, and system configurationsParticipate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessionsWhat You Need To HaveEducation & Experience Requirements13+ Years of experience in Systems or IT related roles or a highly related field of work with similar scope and responsibilities.A Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for 4 years of experience and a Master’s Degree may be substituted for 6 years of experienceRequired QualificationsExpertise in enterprise Java application development on Windows-based VMware infrastructureExpertise with PythonExpertise Apache Solr with Zookeeper (including upgrading and migrating Solr index data)Experience with Apache Tomcat, Apache Directory StudioExperience with Oracle 19c/Relational database integrationExperience with SAP Business Intelligence reporting frameworksExperience with secure coding practices for government complianceAbility to obtain and/or maintain a TS/SCI government clearance which requires US CitizenshipWhat We'd Like You To HaveExperience with PrimeFaces UI frameworkTS/SCI with an in-scope polygraphAbout BigBear.aiBigBear.ai is a leading provider of AI-powered decision intelligence solutions for national security, supply chain management, and digital identity.
