Position Overview (Role):
As a Whataburger-Vibe Restaurants Assistant Manager, your main role is to ensure the ultimate customer experience by engaging and empowering every Team Member and Team Leader to achieve operational excellence. You are responsible for everything from cooking with fresh ingredients to ensuring the restaurant is clean and comfortable for every customer.
Essential Job Functions:
Deliver Shift Execution
Own Shift Operations
Open/Close Restaurant
Working manager
Completes daily checklists & leverages tools for high performing shifts
Ensures SOPs are being followed
Effect daily Labor cost, COGS and sales – portioning, waste, labor management
Monitor daily cash management
Handle guest interactions
Leads culture, service model, & core values during each shift
Drive speed of service and sense of urgency
Responsible for safety and security during shift
2. Support team member development
Support team member and manager training
Supports team member accountability through documentation
Provide employee development and through training and shift coaching
Assess performance and provides feedback to team member and general manager
Supports recruiting through screening/initial interviews
Provide accurate promise times for every order and update regularly
Use deployment charts every shift
Build culture of recognition through use of our Rockstar cards
3. Support Financial Performance
Manage speed of service/quote times
Manage labor during assigned shift
Manage food cost, waste, and inventory during assigned shift
Support ordering & inventory management
Maintain and manage equipment
Accountabilities:
Keeps General Manager promptly and fully informed of all issues (i.e. problems, unusual matters of significance and positive events) and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action.
Creates a positive working environment with positive actions.
Able to perform all position responsibilities and performance objectives in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures.
Maintains a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a cooperative working atmosphere, which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. With input, support and approval from the General Manager or Upper Management, responsibilities include screening applicants, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
Education & Experience: A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience is required, and an Associate's degree is preferred. At least one year of restaurant leadership experience is preferred.
Job Specifications:
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Ability to motivate a team
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with strong leadership skills
Knowledge of back-of-house systems, point-of-sale systems, restaurant operating systems, and budgetary concepts
Food Handlers Certification
Food Safety Certification (may vary based on city, county, or state)
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Must be able to stand for the entire shift
Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, lift, shake, stir, pour, carry, and push occasionally
Must be able to read orders, menu boards, and receipts
Requires frequent contact with water, cleaning solutions, meat, poultry, and produce items
Requires frequent hand washing
Must be able to use computers, telephones, and office equipment
Work Environment:
The working conditions can be a very fast paced environment at times, mostly indoor work, but may include some outdoor events where climate will vary from extreme heat in summer to freezing in winter. May work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment as well as operate phones, computers, printers, and other office equipment. The noise level is moderate to loud. Hectic work environment with occasional periods of big workloads. May be required to work evenings, overnights, weekends and/or holidays.
