OverviewElement has an opportunity for a Mechanical Test Technician to join our growing team in Wixom, MI. T he Mechanical Test Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision.Element Wixom is a full-service metallurgical and materials testing laboratory supporting the automotive, aerospace, defense, and industrial sectors. The laboratory provides extensive expertise in mechanical testing, fatigue testing, metallurgical evaluations, chemical analysis, corrosion testing, and advanced failure analysis, helping manufacturers validate material performance and resolve complex engineering challenges.ResponsibilitiesConducting mechanical testing including tensile, compersion, hardness, Charpy, and bend testingPrepare material specimens for testingInterpretation of internal and client requirementsMaintaining accurate and systematic recordsPerforming other duties to fulfil the demands of the laboratoryPerforming general duties in accordance with Element's internal procedures, quality and health and safety systemSkills / QualificationsWorking knowledge of laboratory safetyHS diploma or GED certificate requiredCollege degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or similar is beneficialExperience of working within a mechanical or other testing environment is beneficialExperience with reading standards such as ASTM is beneficial0-5 years experience in a testing related fieldStrong attention detail is requiredPossess basic computer skills.Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plusPhysical Demands:Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate).Lifting requirements: lifting Ability to stand on feet for long periods of timeCompany OverviewElement is one of the fastest growing testing, inspection and certification businesses in the world.
