Computer Systems Design and Related ServicesComputing Infrastructure Providers, Data Processing, Web Hosting, and Related ServicesWeb Search Portals, Libraries, Archives, and Other Information ServicesEducational Support ServicesSoftware PublishersJob Description: Position: Database AdminLocation: Phoenix, AZ (Onsite Role)Hire Type: Contract / Full Time Critical Focus AreasAdminister, maintain, and optimize enterprise database systems to ensure high availability and performanceMonitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and resolve incidents in a timely mannerImplement database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategiesEnsure data integrity, security, and compliance with enterprise standardsSupport capacity planning, performance tuning, and scalability initiativesCollaborate with engineering teams to support application deployments and database changes Key ResponsibilitiesManage and support database platforms (e.g., DB2 z/OS, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Netezza) across development, test, and production environmentsPerform database installation, configuration, patching, and upgradesMonitor database performance and proactively tune queries, indexes, and configurationsImplement and maintain backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions (e.g., replication, clustering)Troubleshoot database-related incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measuresPartner with application and product teams to review database designs and ensure optimal data structuresEnforce database security standards, including access controls, encryption, and auditingAutomate routine DBA tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, PowerShell)Document database configurations, processes, and operational proceduresSupport data migrations, releases, and environment refreshesParticipate in on-call support rotations and incident responseEducation & ExperienceDatabase administration experience in a professional environment and/or comparable experience such as:Experience administering one or more database platforms (e.g., DB2 z/OS, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Netezza)Familiarity with database backup/recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery conceptsExperience with performance tuning and query optimizationExperience with scripting/automation (Shell, Python, PowerShell, etc.)Familiarity with Agile or other rapid application development methodologiesUnderstanding of distributed systems and multi-tier architecturesBachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field required; advanced degree preferredPreferred QualificationsExperience with database monitoring and observability toolsKnowledge of cloud database platforms (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, etc.)Experience with data modeling and database design principlesFamiliarity with NoSQL databases and big data platforms
