The Controller will play a key role in overseeing the company’s accounting operations and financial reporting processes while supporting leadership with customer, operational, and overall company profitability analysis and strategic decision-making support. This role partners cross-functionally with operations, sales, and leadership to provide financial insights that drive efficiency, margin improvement, and sustainable growth. The Controller ensures timely and accurate financial statements, maintains compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and manages the daily operations of the accounting team. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive, with the ability to translate financial data into meaningful business insights in a fast-paced, growing environment. Essential Duties • Assist in the issuance of timely and complete financial statements• Review and distribute weekly profit and loss reports• Manage all aspects of the general ledger
• Assist with the budgeting and forecasting • Support period-end and month-end close procedures• Research accounting issues to ensure compliance with GAAP• Complete special projects, ad-hoc reporting, and financial analysis as needed• Provide customer, operational, and company-wide profitability analysis• Support leadership with financial modeling, scenario analysis, and strategic insights• Partner cross-functionally with operations, sales, and supply chain teams• Identify and support process improvements that enhance financial and operational performance• Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting teamQualifications • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from a four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience• Minimum of four (4) years of progressive accounting or finance experience• Advanced analytical skills with experience in customer and profitability analysis• Strong understanding of operational finance, including inventory and logistics cost structures• Demonstrated ability to provide strategic financial support to leadership• Experience partnering with cross-functional teams to support business decisions• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, IF statements, and INDEX functions• Strong computer proficiency, including Windows, Word, and Outlook• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate actionable insights• Experience supporting process improvements and efficiency initiatives• Experience in the produce or food distribution industry is a plus, but not required
