Position Type:Student Support Services/Guidance CounselorDate Posted:2/18/2026Location:Wray Elementary SchoolDate Available:August 2026Closing Date:Open until filledCertified Salary ScheduleTitle: WES Guidance Counselor (Grades K-6)Reports to: Building Principal or DesigneeFLSA Status: ExemptQualifications:Master's Degree in School Counseling or the ability to obtain such degreeGood public relations skillsThe ability to work effectively with administrators, teachers, parents, and studentsThorough and continuous training in the principles of counseling and evaluationValid Special Services Provider License issued by the Colorado Department of EducationThe Superintendent has the right to waive or reconsider any of the above requirements after seeking permission from the board as to such waiversSupervises:Any office help, full or part-time, which may be employed within the Guidance Office area.Job Goal:To provide for the counseling and guidance of students within the assigned school area, while communicating the needs of students to staff and parents when deemed appropriate.Responsibilities:Keep current in the knowledge of counseling practices and what is available for resources within the community.Work together with administrative personnel in planning and carrying out the standardized testing and to be responsible for the delivery of the district guidance curriculum.Review, revise and make presentations based on the ASCA and CSCA standards.Provide counseling, consultation and collaboration with students, teachers and parents regarding challenges which may ariseAid in maintaining good school and district public relations.Organize activities that will aid students in the areas of educational and vocational/career planning.Aid school personnel in the planning of school programs and policies to meet the needs of all students.Aid in school orientation and back to school registration.Aid in interpreting testing dataArrange conferences with parents when in the interest of students.Help set up student's schedulesWork with students and staffAssist students in career planning.Serve as the 504 Plan case manager in assigned building.Participate on the Yuma County Child Protection Team as neededBuilding specific duties as agreed uponTerms:Salary and work year as described in district policy.Evaluation:Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Licensed personnel, Policy GCO.
