Family Violence Prevention Specialist

Family Violence Prevention Specialist Job Classification: Non-Exempt Full-time Position Pre-service qualifications: Relevant employment experience, college degree or course work. Effective communication skills and desire to work on the topics of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Ability to intervene in crisis situations and ability to maintain client confidentiality. Successful completion of thirty-five (35) hours of agency training is required. A valid drivers license and automobile insurance are required. Supervisor: The Family Violence Prevention Specialist will be directly supervised by the Program Director. Responsibilities: The Family Violence Prevention Specialist will work in conjunction with DCYF in order to provide information and referrals to clients who are experiencing domestic violence. This position will also be responsible for the following: 1. Participate in weekly agency staff meetings and regular supervision sessions at Bridges and DCYF. 2. Assist in coordinating services where domestic violence is occurring in child abuse and/or neglect cases. 3. Provide consultations, referrals and support when deemed appropriate. 4. Provide safety planning to families experiencing domestic violence and/or child abuse and or neglect. 5. Provide ongoing education and training to DCYF on the subject of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking, especially within the family systems. 6. Report statistical information. 7. Be available at Bridges and DCYF on a halftime basis at each office; this is flexible given the needs of the crisis center. 8. Keep supervisors at Bridges and DCYF current on the status of collaborative efforts: training, education, public awareness programs, and any other support programs made available. 9. Facilitation and development of support groups. 10. Participate in agency fundraising efforts. 11. Participate in On Call rotation. 12. Promote the agency’s mission. 13. Adhere to expectations consistent with Bridges definition of cultural competence. These expectations seek to clarify the knowledge, attitudes, skills and practices that would need to provide culturally and linguistic competent services to the diverse populations of the Greater Nashua area. 14. Attend training programs and use practices that promote culturally competent services. 15. Other duties as assigned.
