The MA is supervised by the Nurse Manager and ultimately the Director of Clinical Care.Requirements Support physicians, nurse practitioners (NP) and physician assistants (PA) in the care of patients receiving PrEP services and in the care of patients living with HIV.Escort patients to exam roomsPerform vital signsReturn phone calls within 24 hoursConduct patient interviews including history, complaints, and current medicationsPrepare patients for examinations, and assist the physician, NP or PA during examinationsCollect and prepare laboratory specimens (including phlebotomy) or perform basic laboratory testsPrepare referrals as orderedDocument in the electronic medical recordSchedule patients for appointments with clinical provider or for laboratory specimen collectionProvide treatments, administer medications and vaccines as directedAuthorize medication refills as directedPerform administrative duties related to patient care as directedAbide by all state and agency policies regarding confidentiality of patient informationResponsible for general clinic housekeeping and disinfection of exam rooms and other treatment areas as necessaryParticipate in quality improvement activities as indicatedKnowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesElectronic Medical Record system knowledge preferredPossess excellent communication skills (writing, spelling, listening and speaking)Cooperates as a team memberPossesses problem solving and decision-making abilitiesUtilizes good management techniquesFollows through to completion of assigned tasksProficiency in word processing, spreadsheet database and presentation softwareAbides by all policies and procedures concerning personnel including conflict of interest policyMinimum QualificationsCertified Medical Assistant credential or Medical Assistant with an Associate Degree or higher in the medical fieldBLS Certification certification required and must be maintained in active statusExperienceAt least 1 year of experience in a clinical setting preferred.Phlebotomy certification preferredBilingual-Spanish preferred Experience in primary care, infectious diseases, or HIV care environment preferred Licensures: Current Certified Medical AssistantPhysical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
