Flight Dynamics Engineer
We’re supporting a highly specialised, employee-owned aerospace R&D company working at the cutting edge of advanced aircraft design, flight dynamics, and next-generation aviation concepts. This is not a traditional engineering role. You’ll be joining a small, elite team (predominantly PhD-level engineers) solving complex, unsolved problems across:Advanced Air Mobility (AAM / UAM)Rotary-wing aircraftNovel multi-propulsor configurationsGovernment and NASA-backed research programmesIf you’ve ever felt limited by large corporate structure, slow decision-making, or narrow roles — this is a chance to do real, high-impact engineering. Why This Role Stands Out✅ True R&D environment – define problems, not just solve predefined tasks ✅ Direct exposure to real-world aerospace challenges (DARPA, NASA, DoD programs) ✅ Flat organisation – no layers, no bureaucracy, no “waiting for approval” ✅ High autonomy & ownership – your ideas can directly shape projects ✅ Employee-owned + profit sharing – you benefit directly from the work you generate ✅ PhD-heavy environment – work alongside some of the strongest minds in aero-mechanics🔧 What You’ll Be DoingDevelop and refine flight dynamics models & simulationsAnalyse aircraft behaviour across complex flight regimes (hover, transition, forward flight)Work on rotary-wing and advanced aircraft systems (including distributed propulsion)Collaborate across disciplines to understand full aircraft behaviourContribute to research programmes and customer-driven problem solvingGradually take ownership of key project components or entire workstreamsWhat We’re Looking ForWe’re intentionally targeting individuals who want more than a standard engineering role.Essential:Strong background in Flight Dynamics / Aircraft Controls / SimulationEvidence of hands-on modelling or system-level workAdvanced education (PhD preferred, but strong MSc + experience considered)Ability to work through ambiguous, open-ended technical challengesHighly desirable:Rotary-wing or advanced aircraft exposurePublished research, conference papers, or validated technical workExposure to simulation development or control system analysisInterest in big-picture problem solving, not just task executionWhat This Role Is NOTThis is not suitable for:Pure CFD (especially turbomachinery-focused profiles)Structural / FEA specialistsCAD / design-heavy engineersIndividuals seeking fully remote or highly structured environmentsIdeal backgroundYou might be:A PhD graduate frustrated by academia and looking to apply your work in the real worldA researcher who wants ownership, impact, and autonomyAn engineer from industry who misses hands-on problem solvingSomeone who enjoys asking “why?” and building solutions from first principlesPackage & BenefitsCompetitive base salary (discussed on experience/skill)20% profit-sharing model (meaningful upside beyond base)Full healthcare coverage (including family)Employee ownership (equity participation)Fully covered relocation packageStable, long-term R&D pipelineThe Bottom LineThis is a rare opportunity to join a true engineering-led organisation where:Your work directly mattersYou’re not just a numberAnd the problems you solve are genuinely challengingInterested?
