HVAC Service Manager

Job Description Salary:Job Summary:SPC Mechanicals HVAC Service Manager leads our HVAC service department. This role is hands-on, people-focused, and accountable for day-to-day execution. The HVAC Service Manager oversees a team of technicians and helpers, ensures safe and high-quality work, supports technicians in the field, and helps maintain SPC Mechanicals reputation for integrity, quality, transparency, detail, and teamwork. Department growth is a focus, driven primarily through strong service, customer retention, and operational excellence.Essential Functions:Leadership & Team ManagementLead, develop, and support a team of commercial/industrial HVAC service techniciansSet clear expectations for safety, quality, productivity, and professionalismConduct regular check-ins, performance reviews, and coachingFoster a team-oriented environment where accountability and respect go hand-in-handUphold SPC Mechanicals safety culture and ensure compliance with all safety policiesService OperationsManage daily service operations including scheduling, dispatch coordination, and emergency responseProvide technical assistance and decision-making support to technicians in the fieldEnsure service work is completed correctly, efficiently, and to SPC Mechanicals standardsOversee preventive maintenance programs and ensure consistent executionReview work orders, service reports, and documentation for accuracy and completenessReview technician and helper timesheets for accuracy and completenessProvide onsite walkthroughs and reports for deficiencies annually to existing customersProvide onsite walkthroughs and reports for deficiencies for prospective customersCustomer ExperienceServe as a point of contact for HVAC customers, and a resource for plumbing service customers, or new construction site leadershipResolve escalated service issues professionally and promptlyReinforce SPC Mechanicals commitment to long-term customer relationships, not shortcutsCoordinate closely with project management and estimating teams when service overlaps with new construction or retrofit workFinancial & Performance OversightMonitor labor efficiency, productivity, and job costingReview invoicing and service billing for accuracyTrack and report basic performance metrics (response time, callbacks, customer satisfaction)Assist leadership with budgeting and planning for service operationsPrice and plan out new customers, or quotes for existing customersTraining & DevelopmentAssist with hiring, onboarding, and training of service techniciansIdentify skill gaps and support ongoing technical and safety trainingHelp develop technicians into reliable, independent professionalsDepartment Growth (Secondary Focus)Support steady, controlled growth through: Strong customer retentionEffective maintenance programsIdentifying service and upgrade opportunities during routine workProvide input on staffing, fleet, tools, and systems needed to support growth without sacrificing qualityRequired Qualifications:Minimum 10 years of commercial and/or industrial HVAC service experiencePrevious experience supervising or leading multiple techniciansStrong working knowledge of commercial/industrial HVAC systemsProven ability to lead by example and earn technician trustStrong organizational and communication skillsAbility to make sound decisions under pressureSafety-first mindsetEPA Certification required; additional certifications are a plusValid drivers license and clean driving recordPreferred Qualifications:Hands-on leadership styleCalm, solutions-oriented approach to problemsHigh level of personal accountabilityPride in workmanship and team performanceExperience with service management software and basic reportingCommissioning experience
