Kitchen Coordinator/ Experienced Cook $17-$19 per hour

Position Title: Community Dining Coordinator Reports To: Culinary Director Supervises: Dishwasher/Prep Cook The Community Dining Coordinator at FeedNC will play a pivotal role in managing both the kitchen and dining room of Donoghue’s Open Door. Your responsibilities will include overseeing meal preparation, ensuring sanitation and safety standards are met while also providing a welcoming dining experience for members and guests. This role requires a strong blend of leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills. Key Responsibilities: ● Kitchen Management: ○ Work side by side with volunteers and workforce students, offering training and guidance as needed. ○ Plan and execute meal preparation, following set recipes and standards. ○ Maintain inventory of food and supplies, coordinate ordering as needed. ○ Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in the kitchen area. ● Dining Room Management: ○ Supervise dining room set up and cleaning, including table arrangements and décor. ○ Provide dining room volunteers guidance on use of POS system and input daily specials into POS. ○ Coordinate with order takers to ensure timely and efficient delivery of food to diners. ○ Address requests and concerns of diners to ensure the best experience. ● Volunteer Training and Coordination: ○ Train volunteers in the various roles in the kitchen and dining room for them to perform effectively. ○ Assign duties to volunteers and provide ongoing support and guidance as needed. ○ Provide a positive and inclusive environment for volunteers, recognizing their contributions to the community. ● Menu Planning: ○ Work with the Culinary Director to develop menus and specials following trends, nutrition and use of product that is readily available from our donations. ○ Incorporate feedback from members, guests, and staff to continuously improve the variety and quality of food offered. ● Communication and Collaboration: ○ Maintain open communication with members, staff, and volunteers to ensure smooth operation of the dining program. ○ Collaborate with other departments and community partners to organize events related to community dining. Qualifications: ● Previous experience in food service management. ● Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with an ability to motivate and empower volunteers. ● ServSafe Manager Certification preferred. Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in kitchen operation. ● Organizational abilities and attention to detail. ● Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and ability to prioritize. ● Basic understanding of nutrition and dietary restrictions. ● Organizational skills, including time management, prioritization, multitasking, and problem-solving. ● Communicating effectively with staff and volunteers. ● Providing attention to detail and documentation. Abilities: · Read, understand, and follow oral and written formats. · Communicate clearly and concisely. · Multitask effectively. · Analyze situations and respond quickly and appropriately. · Establish and maintain effective working relationships with guests, volunteers, other staff, and the community. · Understand and comply with policies and procedures. Equipment Operated: Standard commercial kitchen equipment, walk-in freezer, vans, wheeled equipment for transporting food, various warehouse equipment, Mic, A/V, Lighting Working Conditions: Possible exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions due to frequent contact with staff and guests. Occasional local and regional travel required. Ability to work weekend and evening hours as needed.
