If you have a passion for improving software quality and experience with test automation framework and are looking for your next career move, apply now.Job Description We are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to support software quality efforts across government and public sector IT projects by developing and executing test strategies, ensuring compliance, and driving continuous improvement of testing processes. This position will be a full-time contract role and is currently remote, with potential for occasional onsite work in Chicago, IL.What You'll Do Develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts across functional, regression, integration, UAT, and smoke testingIdentify, document, and track defects using tools such as Jira or ServiceNow, ensuring timely resolution in collaboration with development teamsDrive QA efforts for software releases, including both manual and automated testingSupport User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by coordinating sessions with stakeholders, documenting results, and facilitating sign-offValidate that systems meet business requirements, security standards, Section 508 accessibility requirements, and public-sector compliance standardsDevelop and maintain test automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or similarConduct API testing and validate data integrity across integrated systemsParticipate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectivesPrepare and deliver QA status reports, defect analysis, and test summary documentationDocument test cases, test steps, and expected results clearly and consistentlyCollaborate with business analysts to review requirements and identify gaps in testability early in the lifecycleCommunicate effectively with developers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teamsSupport continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, templates, and standardsWhat You'll Need Required:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience5+ years of QA or software testing experience, preferably within government or public sector environmentsExperience with both manual and automated testing methodologiesExperience working within SDLC frameworks including Agile/Scrum and WaterfallHands-on experience with automation tools such as Selenium, TestComplete, QTP, or similarExperience with defect tracking and test management toolsExperience with API testingStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to non-technical stakeholdersUnderstanding of data privacy requirements including PII and regulated data handlingPreferred:Experience testing web applications and APIsFamiliarity with Section 508 or WCAG accessibility testingExperience with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunnerExperience supporting government agencies or public-sector IT environmentsExperience working in SLA-driven or contract-based delivery environmentsPhysical Demands Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standardsSedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional movement to attend meetingsAbility to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitorReasonable accommodation statementIf you require a reasonable accommodation in completing this application, interviewing, completing any pre-employment testing, or otherwise participating in the employment selection process, please direct your inquiries to application.accommodations@cai.io or (888) 824 – 8111.$100,000 - $120,000 per yearThe pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education.
