About the CompanyWe are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Construction Estimator to join our pre-construction team. In this role, you will be the financial architect of our projects, responsible for calculating total costs by analysing blueprints, specifications, and proposals. Your goal is to provide accurate, competitive, and profitable bids that allow our firm to win projects while maintaining healthy margins.About the RoleIn this role, you will be the financial architect of our projects, responsible for calculating total costs by analysing blueprints, specifications, and proposals.ResponsibilitiesProject Analysis: Review architectural drawings, specifications, and site visit notes to understand the full scope of work.Quantity Take-offs: Conduct comprehensive material, labour, and equipment take-offs using estimating software.Bid Management: Prepare and submit highly accurate cost estimates and formal bid packages within tight deadlines.Vendor Relations: Solicit and evaluate subcontractor quotes; negotiate pricing and clarify scopes of work to ensure no gaps in the budget.Cost Database Management: Maintain and update a database of labour rates, material costs, and historical project data.Risk Assessment: Identify potential project risks (e.g., site conditions, market fluctuations) and factor them into the financial strategy.Collaboration: Work closely with Project Managers, Architects, and Clients to provide value engineering options and budget updates.QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent field experience).Required SkillsExperience: Minimum of 5-8 years in construction estimating (Commercial, Residential, or Civil experience preferred).Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Sage, On-Center, or Procore) and Microsoft Excel.Mathematical Precision: Ability to perform complex calculations and analyze large datasets with a high degree of accuracy.Communication: Strong negotiation skills and the ability to explain technical cost breakdowns to non-technical stakeholders.Preferred SkillsExperience with project management software.Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
