DCCCA Family Preservation Services Program Job Title: Family Support Worker Locations Available: Wichita, KS Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Founded in 1974, DCCCA is a strong, stable, private non-profit that has grown to 240 employees in nine locations throughout Kansas and Oklahoma. Family Preservation Services (FPS) provides intensive in-home case management services to families who have one or more children at risk of out-of-home placement or who will be at risk of out-of-home placement at birth. Family Support Workers serve an integral role in keeping Kansas families together. Successful candidates have a strong sense of ethics and place a high value on keeping families intact. Essential Functions of the Family Support Worker: Provides for the safety, stability and well-being of children and families during the referral period Delivers culturally competent services using a strengths-based approach to children and families consistent with the evidence-based practice models Meets DCF timelines: connects with the family within 24 hours of referral; facilitate initial family meeting within 48 hours of referral; completes assessment-based case plan within in 20 days of referral; case closure within 3-6 months of referral Provides support and resources to family in Nutrition, Hygiene, Household and Time Management, Home and Child Safety, Basic Parenting, Transportation, Problem Solving and Communication Meets with family in the home weekly to monitor family progress towards their case plan goals and assesses each child’s safety Remains current on the availability of community resources and assists all families in obtaining assistance Works closely with the Case Manager to provide services for the family and make decisions about child well-being Documents case activities regularly and timely Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements of the Family Support Worker High school diploma or equivalent, required. Two years relevant experience in behavioral health or children and family services, required. Must possess a valid Kansas Driver’s License, in force automobile liability insurance, and maintain a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets organization’s insurability standard as defined by DCCCA policy. Availability of reliable transportation is required for this position. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities of the Family Support Worker Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with computers and Microsoft suite of products including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to efficiently operate other office equipment such as telephones, voicemail systems, copy and fax machines, and scanners.
