Dirt Pit/Landfill Operator/Manager

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Dirt Pit/Landfill Operator/Manager to oversee daily operations at our dirt pit and C&D landfill. This role involves managing and operating heavy equipment and maintaining efficient landfill and dirt pit activities. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in heavy equipment operation, pit maintenance and management, landfill cover/planning maintenance and management. This position offers an opportunity to lead a team while maintaining the integrity of environmental and safety standards. Pay is competitive and negotiable based on the candidate's experience, knowledge, and capabilities. Responsibilities Operate heavy machinery including loaders, excavators, dozers, roll-off trucks, and other equipment to manage waste and dirt materials effectively. Oversee the loading, unloading, and transportation of waste materials within the landfill or dirt pit site. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the work area, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Perform heavy lifting tasks safely during material handling and site maintenance activities. Monitor site conditions regularly to identify potential safety hazards or operational inefficiencies. Manage equipment maintenance schedules and coordinate repairs with onsite and offsite mechanics as needed to ensure optimal performance. Enforce safety protocols among team members and ensure adherence to all safety guidelines. Assist with site organization, including waste sorting and debris removal to facilitate efficient operations. Experience Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, forklifts, front loader trucks, roll-off trucks, and other equipment. Prior background in pit operation management and landfill operation management. Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a demanding environment. Experience managing or supervising landfill or dirt pit operations is a plus. Knowledge of safety regulations related to heavy equipment operation and waste management practices. This role requires a proactive individual capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining high safety standards. The position is integral to the smooth operation of our waste management facility, supporting environmental compliance and operational excellence.
