The MRSO serves as the leader for Magnetic Resonance safety and collaborates closely with the Chief of Radiology, Director of Medical Imaging and modality lead. The MRSO oversees the safety of MRI equipment, environment, screening processes, and emergency preparedness, while also coordinating MRI safety program patient flow and MRI zone access.EDUCATIONCertified by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography required. Certified by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) in Magnetic Resonance (MR) required. MRSO certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire date into role. EXPERIENCEMinimum of three (3) years of experience working in an imaging environment, working directly with MRI equipment. Experience working in both an inpatient and outpatient hospital setting strongly preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESStrong knowledge of MRI safety principles including projectile risk, RF burns, implants, and zoning. Ability to enforce MRI safety policies and procedures. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of personnel at all levels within and external to the organization. Ability to communicate clearly with, and care for, a diverse population of patients/family units of all ages, variety of cultures, etc. Flexible in work schedule, assignments and work load. Ability to accurately document clinical information. Ability to interpret the policies and procedures of SGMC Health, regulatory agencies’ standards and rules, reimbursement rules, etc. Possesses strong clinical skills. WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATIONWork will be performed in a clinical MRI environment with exposure to strong magnetic fields. May require on-call support for MRI safety issues. Must be able to perform a combination of clinical and administrative duties. Duties require considerable sitting, standing, stooping bending, lifting (in excess of 50 pounds), pushing objects (wheelchairs, stretchers). Comfortable conditions, subject to irregular schedules, including weekends, exposed to high levels of stress.
