If you're passionate about making a difference and growing in your career, DCS is the place for you.LOCATION: This position will work in various school buildings within the school district.QUALIFICATIONS:Master's degree required in speech and language pathologyPrefer CFY eligible or CCCValid Michigan teacher's certificate with full approval in the speech and language impaired, preferredPrevious experience with students with disabilities preferredAbility to work with individuals and small groupsAbility to participate in co-teaching or inclusionary speech lessonsAbility to communicate both orally and in written communicationsDemonstrates initiative and understanding in working with students, staff and parents/guardiansDemonstrates mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the requirements of the positionAbility to make decisions in accordance with board policies and procedures with minimum supervisionMaintain regular, reliable and punctual attendanceJOB SUMMARY:The teacher of the speech and language impaired provides services to students, staff and families that improve and develop the use of speech and language for eligible students with disabilities.TYPICAL DUTIES:Provides evaluations to suspected students with disabilities or special education students in the areas of speech, voice, language and oral motor skillsProvides speech and language services to eligible students with disabilities in various settingsProvides consultation to staff and parents/guardians regarding speech and language servicesDevelops annual goals and short-term instructional objectives for students assigned to the caseloadAttends Multi disciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individualized Education Planning Committee (IEPC) meetings as requestedCompiles and maintains records for students assigned to the caseloadAssists in instructional and other ancillary staff in referring students for speech and language servicesThe employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.Maintains regular, reliable and punctual attendancePerforms other related duties as assignedSALARY: Per DEA Master AgreementDIRECT SUPERVISOR: Building Principal and Director of Special EducationAPPLICATION PROCEDURE: Apply online at http://www.davisonschools.org.
