Visiting Assistant Professor in Japanese

The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at Colgate University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in Japanese, beginning in the fall semester of 2026, for a one-year term. A PhD is expected prior to or shortly after date of hire, and native or near-native command of both Japanese and English is required. The applicant's area of research specialization is open. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach Japanese language courses at all levels, participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum, and may be expected to teach a Japan-related course in English designed by the applicant. The teaching load is five courses for the year.Salary Range or Pay GradeSalary range: $74,000 (for ABD candidates) to $78,000 (for candidates with PhD in hand).Application InstructionsA letter of application, CV, and three letters of reference must be submitted through Interfolio at Interfolio.
