Lead Medical Technologist l

Job Responsibilities:-Receives and processes specimens, components and/or requisitions: Receives, prioritizes, and processes specimens in a timely manner to meet or exceed turnaround time standards.-Verifies specimen identification and labeling.-Determines if specimen is acceptable for analysis.-Identifies discrepancies, resolves, and documents for quality assurance.-Willingly assists other employees in the department during times of high-volume testing.-BB Only: Determines if specimen collection is required.-Completes blood component transfusion utilization form.-Performs and documents blood component processing according to established procedures.-As requested, provides appropriate platelet and plasma components.-Documents special component needs in transfusion service information systems (TSIS).-Reviews and confirm recipient and donor information at the time of blood component issue.-Maintains adequate blood component inventory and uses the inventory effectively.-Performs testing according to established procedures: organizes work for maximum efficiency, maintaining efficiency during stressful situations.-Demonstrates knowledge of technical and instrumental procedures.-Performs testing according to established procedure. Identifies absurd results and repeats tests as needed.-Maintains a clean, uncluttered work area. Uses required personal protective equipment and physical barriers.-Works independently with minimal supervision and uses time efficiently when work is completed.-Reviews specimen logs for unreceived specimens.-BB Only: Performs patient and component testing according to established procedures.-Uses TSIS efficiently to record testing results and comments.-Reports accurate test.
