Nutrition Specialist I @ Nutrition DepartmentWork under moderate supervision to prepare and serve appropriate quantities of food to meet menu requirements. Maintain high standards of quality in food production, sanitation, and safety practices.QualificationsEducation/Certification:High School graduate or GED preferredMust have or be able to obtain within 60 days, a State of Texas ANSI accredited Food Handler's CertificationSpecial Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Ability to communicate effectively with parents, students and staffAbility to work cooperatively with students/staff/parents.Must be available to work until end of the scheduled shiftBasic math skillsExperience:NoneMajor Responsibilities and DutiesFood Preparation and ServingAssist cook in preparation of food for the day's menu, while maintaining established safety and sanitation procedures (including checking and maintaining food temperatures).Organize serving area and serve students and staff in a courteous manner, following established AISD and USDA/TDA guidelines.Maintain a high level of food quality. Must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner.Know and follow all HACCP procedures and Health Department regulations.Aide in stocking, straightening, dating, rotating and inventorying of items in a storeroom, 40 o F refrigerator and 0 o F or below freezer.Cashier and perform record keeping responsibilities as assigned by manager.Serve food according to meal schedules, departmental policies, and procedures, and practice and promote portion control and proper use of leftovers.Store and handle food items and supplies safely and according to established procedures. Maintain a clean and organized storage area.Provide services for catering, as needed.Count and keep accurate records of food used.Safety and SanitationAssist in kitchen clean-up in accordance with work schedule.Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety standards, and follow established procedures.
