Director of Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment (3rd - 8th Grade Social Studies) Vision for the role: Directors of Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment at Bricolage Academy help to yield the highest possible student outcomes by investing in their own professional growth & development and the growth & development of the teachers they coach in order to ensure that classrooms are safe, inclusive, equitable, supportive, and joyful and that instruction is relevant, engaging, standards aligned, and culturally responsive. Responsibilities CurriculumCo-lead (with the Principal) the selection &/or creation, implementation, & evaluation of Tier 1 curricular resources including supplementary materials & assessmentsEnsure vertical & horizontal alignment of curricular resourcesEnsure curricular resources can be & are modified to meet the needs of each individual studentPlan & lead curriculum specific professional development for leaders, teachers, & parents/families - unit launches, lesson internalizations, parent nights, etc.Develop curriculum maps & scopes & sequencesActively seek ways to supplement the dominant narrative with culturally responsive pedagogy to ensure diversity, equity & inclusion and lead teachers through this process InstructionLead teachers through the process of setting big quarterly goals for teaching & learningLead teachers through the process of breaking big goals into bite-sized action steps throughout the quarterObserve teachers weeklyUse observation tools with fidelity - video, trackers, rubrics, etc.Plan teacher debriefs before they happen - select the highest leverage, measurable, bite-sized action stepMeet with teachers weekly to debrief observationsUse the See It, Name It, Do It debrief protocol with fidelityInvest teachers in action steps & hold them accountable for taking themAssess the needs of teachers (& students) & plan & lead professional development to address those needs - instructional best practices, etc.Participate in bi-weekly co-observations & debriefs with the PrincipalParticipate in monthly academic progress monitoring meetings with the Academic Leadership TeamParticipate in monthly instruction & culture walkthroughs & debriefs with the Academic Leadership Team AssessmentPlan & lead assessment related professional development for leaders, teachers, staff, & parents/families - data driven instruction, data collection, analysis, & use, etc.Determine multiple measures to student progress - checkpoints, unit tests, interim assessments, student work samples, etc.Coordinate assessment logistics - assessment calendars, student work analysis protocolsAnalyze assessment data, identifying trends, prioritizing performance concerns, identifying root causes, identifying solutions & planning action steps to address concernsPlan & lead data analysis & meetings Professional Growth & DevelopmentModel a growth mindsetActively participate in all relevant professional growth & development opportunities -
