MBTA Transit Ambassadors
Salary: \$21.74 per hour AM Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Full-time,Part-time Shift: 2:00 PM - 12:00 AM, Full-time, Part-time This positionis part of Teamsters Local 25. MBTA Transit Ambassadors are members ofthe Union and are covered under the applicable collective bargainingagreement. MBTA Transit Ambassadors are responsible for the safety ofriders! Due to the serious nature of the job, we require a full 13 paneldrug screen (this includes marijuana) as a part of our hiring process.Essential Functions: Maintains high visibility in the specified areas,most commonly stations entrances and exists to maximize engagement withriders and continually offer greetings to public. Proactively offersassistance with navigation on how to navigate the MBTA transit systemand offer directions to destinations or instructions on farepayment/ticket use. Assists persons with disabilities by assisting inthe development of the bridge plate for wheelchairs or other mobilitydevices while being kind, courteous and customer facing. Uses knowledgeof transit system to communicate to ridership about parking information,transit schedules, payment options as well as maintains completeknowledge of the MBTA transit system and offer directions todestinations or instructions on fare payment options as well maintainscomplete knowledge of the MBTA Transit Company\'s policies. Activelyreports unwanted behaviors, such as: smoking, loitering, disorderlyconduct, and any criminal activities or other situations deemed unsafeto riders and reports to transit police and local authorities viaestablished communication methods. Serves as a deterrent whilecirculating through assigned platform to deter unwanted activity througha visible uniformed presence. Maintains a friendly and positiveenvironment in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations,policies, procedures and overall Block by Block standards ofprofessionalism. Responds to emergency situations following outlinedprotocol: We are front-line responders and we will sound the alarm forthe transit police. Reports all activities through usage of a smartdevice on station iPad, client phone and radio. QualificationsAge/Education/Experience Must have at least one year experience inhospitality or customer service Must be at least 18 years old Must haveHigh School Diploma or GED Physical Abilities: Must have excellentcommunication skills with the ability to speak, read and write theEnglish language in order to create basic reports. Must have thephysical capacity to stand and walk continuously during an eight-hourand ten-hour shifts with normal breaks (ex: two fifteen-minute breaks,and one thirty-minute meal break). Must be able to work in stationplatforms in all conditions with provided inclement weather gear.
