Elementary Migrant Summer School Instructional Assistant Position for North Marion’s Migrant Education Program POSITION DESCRIPTION: Educational Assistant,Migrant Summer School (Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred but not required) 1 Position available DATES : July 27th through August 11th (Instructional days: July 31st - August 11th) LOCATION :Our summer school program will run in-person at an North Marion Primary School HOURS: Mon-Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in-person with students, plus 1 hour per day prep and parent engagement hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Instructional Assistant (IA) assists the teacher in instruction and personal management of students. The IA will also provide office and clerical support as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: Experience as a teacher's assistant in a school setting working with bilingual, Migrant, and/or Latino student population (preferred). Ability to assist classroom teachers, head teacher, and support students in the classroom*, as well as to communicate with parents and staff effectively. Genuine enjoyment and understanding of migrant children and families. Ability to perform within district and program policies, procedures, and guidelines. Ability to establish and maintain effective, professional relationships and work in harmony with other staff, supervisors, parents, students, and general public. Physical and mental skills and abilities needed to perform the essential functions of the position. Educational assistants will also support students during cafeteria time and between buses and classroom as needed.
