Avionics Field Service Representative - General Aviation
OverviewWe are seeking a full-time Aviation Field Service Representative 1 onsite at Garmin’s U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will support Garmin’s Aviation Fleet customers — including OEM partners, operators, and service centers — who rely on Garmin avionics solutions to modernize and maintain aircraft across their fleets. You will serve as a trusted technical expert, helping customers with support of installs, operation, and troubleshooting of Garmin avionics systems while representing Garmin’s commitment to innovation, safety, and world-class support.Essential FunctionsDevelop internal training material and Knowledge Base articles to effectively transfer knowledge to the FSE team and mentor/coach/lead FSE team membersServe as an expert consultant on Garmin aviation products to distributors/end customersTravel to customer facility and provide on-site representation and expert technical support of Garmin avionic systems and installations when neededDemonstrate strong leadership/communication skills working with difficult customers and situationsWork closely with dealers installing and maintaining Garmin Avionics products and assist them in solving both technical and operational problemsTravel to dealers in support of the installation/maintenance Garmin Avionics products when necessaryRepresent Garmin in the field to distributors and end customers both domestically and internationally with expert knowledge of Garmin avionic systemsBe highly knowledgeable of FAA regulations and safety standardsTravel to customers’ facilities both domestically and internationally to provide on-site support of advanced or complex avionics installations and troubleshootingAct as liaison between customer and Engineering teamsAnswer complex and challenging customer and installer technical inquiries regarding Garmin products and systems via telephone, letter, fax, e-mail, and in personDetermine if Garmin avionic equipment needs to be returned to the factory for repairDetermine if an exchange is required for out of box failures of Garmin equipmentCreate RMAs for repair or exchange when necessaryBe available to the FSE team for complex questions and consultation with difficult problemsMonitor, document, and report failure trends in Garmin equipment and identify/recommend improvements in Garmin products, documentation, and proceduresReview special circumstances and authorize warranty service when deemed appropriateReview pilot’s guides, installation manuals, and maintenance manuals for completeness, technical accuracy, and areas likely to be misinterpretedProvide reliable solutions to difficult problems including evaluation of new technologies to improve existing functionsBuild strong working relationships between Aviation Support, Garmin business segments, and customers and demonstrate broad understanding of Garmin’s business model including Engineering, Operations, Finance, Sales and MarketingAble to travel, coordinate, and represent Garmin at industry and professional meetings, trade shows and conferencesAbility to be on a rotation for AOG Basic QualificationsAssociate’s Degree or equivalent military/trade school AND a minimum of 6 years experience OR a minimum of 8 years relevant experienceMust demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsMust demonstrate strong leadership skills and a superior customer-oriented attitudeMust demonstrate strong/broad knowledge of aircraft systems and avionics sub-systemsMust possess proficiency using personal computers and Microsoft OfficeMust be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems, a multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and work proactively in a fast paced, deadline-driven environmentDesired Qualifications4-year technical degreePrior work history as a Garmin Senior Field Service Engineer for 2 yearsPrevious avionics experience in a Garmin distributor facility or an aircraft maintenance facility and/or an aircraft manufacturing environmentPilot’s LicenseExperience troubleshooting and installing Garmin avionic systemsGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
