TUMO – Learning Coach (Los Angeles)
Goal: Establish high-trust mentorship relationships with TUMO students and support their learning journey while at TUMOStart Date: Rolling DatesHours/Location: 10-12 hours a week, in person in North Hollywood - initial working days will include Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons and Saturdays.TUMO's Vision: The world's full learning potential unlocked through innovative education resources available to everyone.The RoleTUMO Center for Creative Technologies is looking for tech and design enthusiasts to join the team to support teens as they progress through TUMO's self-learning activities. At TUMO you will get a chance to inspire and mentor teens by sharing your passion and skills in technology and design.About TUMOTUMO serves ~40,000 teens each week across 14 countries, including locations in Paris, Berlin, , Amsterdam, and Buenos Aires among others. TUMO LA is the first US-based TUMO center made possible with funds from the State of California and the City of LA. TUMO students are between the ages of 12 and 18 and attend TUMO centers after school to learn skills at the intersection of technology and design, completely free of charge.Main Responsibilities:Learning Coaches work directly with students to:Assist them in the design of their personal learning plans through TUMO's in-house softwareSupport their learning process by answering technical questionsOffer guidance towards the completion of learning activitiesProvide encouragement and motivation to teens learning new skillsAssist in workshop and project coordination in various technology related areasTrack student attendance and provide feedback regarding student development, take measures to engage and inspire reluctant studentsConvey a positive, patient, supportive and professional image to studentsPromote learning by creating a collaborative and energized environmentFollow up with students who miss their sessions or fail to engage while at the centerRequirements:Excellent people skills is a must experience working with teens is a plusWillingness to develop higher order skills such as creativity, analytical thinking and initiative taking, as well as organizational capabilities such as teamwork, communication and research skillsExperience in one or more of TUMO's 8 offered skill areas is a plusExcellent communication skills, including written communication, personal interaction and public presentationLanguage: English fluency is required, Spanish is a plusTo apply please submit your resume to: la.jobs@tumo.center[Only applicants who submit through the listed email will be considered]Positions may not always be available at the time a resume is submitted.
