Development Operations Engineer

DevOps Engineer AMAG Technology is in active technical evolution — migrating platforms, adopting new tooling, and investing in practices that didn’t exist here two years ago. We’re looking for a DevOps Engineer who thrives in that environment: someone who reads release notes for fun, brings ideas unprompted, and is never content to let their skills or our platform become obsolete. This role has a clear charter across three areas of ownership — engineering environments, on-premises deployment tooling, and CI/CD pipelines — while serving as a close technical liaison to the Hosting Team that manages production AKS in Azure. What You’ll Own Engineering environments (Azure & Digital Ocean): full ownership of dev, QA, staging, and performance environments; automate on-demand pop-up lab provisioning for load testing and release validation On-premises installer & deployment tooling: build, package, and maintain the on-prem installer; navigate the real challenges of self-managed deployments — infrastructure variability, restricted networks, diverse OS/hardware, upgrade complexity; work directly with customers during installation and upgrades (required, not occasional) CI/CD pipelines: own TeamCity pipelines end-to-end; integrate performance gates and SAST/SCA scanning (Mend.io); maintain separate pipeline targets for cloud vs. on-premises releases Hosting Team liaison: bridge between Engineering and the Hosting Team that owns production AKS; support troubleshooting, align environment configs, contribute to shared observability and incident response practices Tooling research & innovation: proactively evaluate and adopt emerging DevOps and cloud-native tooling; stay current with the CNCF ecosystem; champion automation over manual process What We’re Looking For Deep Linux expertise — comfortable at every layer of the stack from kernel internals to container runtimes and application-level troubleshooting Docker and Docker Swarm (legacy on-prem support); Kubernetes in production — day-to-day use of K9s and Headlamp On-premises deployment experience — understands the operational gap between cloud-hosted and self-managed environments CI/CD ownership — TeamCity or equivalent (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, structured logging, and alerting Load and performance testing (k6, Locust, JMeter, or equivalent) Message broker familiarity — RabbitMQ, NATS, or equivalent PostgreSQL required; MS SQL Server a plus for legacy environment support Scripting and automation — Python, Bash, Go, or equivalent; clean maintainable tooling, not one-off scripts Strong written communication; comfortable in direct customer-facing technical engagements Preferred: Ansible / Terraform, Mend.io / SAST/SCA, Azure certifications (AZ-104 / AZ-400), AI-assisted tooling (Claude, Copilot), CNCF ecosystem fluency, SOC 2 exposure, on-call availability Tools & Tech Stack Azure • Digital Ocean • AKS (Hosting Team-managed) • Kubernetes • K9s • Headlamp • Docker / Docker Swarm • TeamCity • Bitbucket • PostgreSQL • MS SQL Server • RabbitMQ / NATS • Redis • ElasticSearch • Prometheus • Grafana • Mend.io • Ansible • Jira / Confluence • Microsoft Teams Benefits: 401(k) 401(k) matching Dental insurance Employee assistance program Flexible spending account Health insurance Health savings account Life insurance Paid time off Retirement plan Vision insurance Work Location: Hybrid remote in Chelmsford, MA 01824
