Accounting Manager

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join a team in Waltham, Massachusetts on a Long-term Contract basis. This role will take ownership of core accounting activities, bring structure to the close process, and provide steady leadership for day-to-day financial operations. The ideal candidate can step in quickly, maintain accuracy across the general ledger, and help strengthen workflows while supporting the broader accounting function.Responsibilities:• Direct daily accounting activities and maintain the integrity of the general ledger across routine financial transactions.• Examine journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations to confirm completeness, accuracy, and compliance with internal standards.• Manage the month-end and quarter-end close cycle, ensuring deadlines are met and reporting is prepared efficiently.• Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and shorten close timelines through practical process enhancements.• Provide guidance and day-to-day support to two staff accountants, helping prioritize work and resolve accounting issues.• Step into the role with limited ramp-up time and quickly establish continuity across ongoing accounting operations.• Maintain stable and reliable accounting practices during an interim period while the organization builds out its longer-term leadership structure.• Assist with audit-related deliverables and documentation by preparing accurate financial support and responding to information requests.• Proven experience leading month-end close activities and overseeing general ledger accounting in a fast-paced environment.• Strong background in preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and core accounting operations.• Ability to supervise and support accounting staff while maintaining high standards for accuracy and timeliness.• Experience contributing to financial statement audits and coordinating supporting schedules or documentation.• Proficiency with Sage Intacct and confidence working within accounting systems to manage day-to-day processes.• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess issues quickly and implement practical accounting solutions.• Capable of working independently, adapting quickly, and becoming productive with minimal onboarding.Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
