Firearms Instructor (Part Time)

Job SummaryThe Firearms Instructor is responsible for overseeing range operations and ensuring the safety of all participants at all times. This role requires strong oral, visual, and written communication skills, along with professional and approachable demeanor. The Firearms Instructor must demonstrate proficiency with firearms withing their certified discipline, including pistol, revolver, rifle, and/or shotgun. They are responsible for clearly explaining and demonstrating fundamental shooting principles, including firearm safety, shooting fundamentals, weapon system operation, ammunition components, and proper responses to firearm malfunctions. The Firearms Instructor ensures instruction is delivered in a safe, effective and engaging manner while maintaining strict adherence to range safety standards.Primary Responsibilities & Essential FunctionsProvide customer service by welcoming guests to the store and assist them with requestGreet all guests promptly and professionallyMust demonstrate proven consultative selling skillsMaintain a safe environment to participate in shooting sports following the standard firearm safety rulesAccurately prepare and copy information as listed on the 4473 form and identification as it pertains to a firearms purchaseVerify the serial number on the firearm is the serial number on the paperworkMust demonstrate proficiency in the safe handling of all firearms and weapons, including but not limited to revolvers, pistols, rifles, and shotguns that are part of the store's inventory, and any weapon brought into the store for serviceInspect check of all private firearms and ammunition to ensure they are safe and in good working orderMaintain a safe and enjoyable training experience for our members & guestsConduct a safety briefing prior to persons entering a hot range to ensure all personnel are aware of their field of fire and are outfitted with the proper safety equipment and clothingConduct an inspection for all range sections, including backstops, target cable systems, frames, downrange area, flag systems, noting any potential safety hazardsConduct a continual sweep of the range monitoring and controlling the firing line and posted rulesCall a cease fire in the event of an individual demonstrating unsafe handling of a firearmMake sure all personnel and guests are wearing eye and ear protection prior to entering the range and while on the rangeDemonstrate understanding and operation of the target control board, lighting, and intercom systemsSweep out spent brass, vacuum range and empty trash at the end of each shiftMaintain order on the rangeTake direction from managers and report issues as necessaryAll other duties as assigned
