This teacher fosters creativity, literacy, and joyful participation while supporting the Allentown School District's mission and vision. The teacher builds a positive classroom culture where all students regardless of prior experience can explore, perform, and create.Qualifications:Valid Pennsylvania Instructional I or II certificate in English, or a valid Theatre endorsementBilingual or multilingual skills.Strong organizational skills.Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse students, staff, and community members.Ability to create a positive and inclusive environment.Ability to pass required background checks.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Performance Responsibilities:Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned to Pennsylvania Standards and school district curriculum.Teach a range of topics including acting, directing, stagecraft, script analysis, theatre history, and dramatic literature from diverse cultures and time periods.Design learning experiences that balance performance-based practice with critical reading, writing, and discussion of dramatic texts.Direct and support student performances, productions, and showcases, including rehearsals and technical preparation as appropriate.Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages creativity, risk-taking, and collaboration.Integrate literacy skills, social-emotional learning, and interdisciplinary connections into theatre and literature instruction.Collaborate with fine arts colleagues, classroom teachers, and administrators to support district initiatives and school goals.Maintain accurate records related to attendance, grading, lesson plans, and student progress.Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school-sponsored events.Support extracurricular theatre activitiesPartner with fellow arts educators to support events, concerts, and cross-disciplinary arts initiatives.Supervise students at all times, ensuring a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.Uphold and enforce all Allentown School District policies and administrative regulations.Share in our community!
