Quality Control Technician

Quality Control TechnicianThe Quality Technician position performs inspection of in-process and finished products, performs a variety of testing techniques, completes and reviews inspection documents, and accepts or rejects material based on customer specifications and guidelines while maintaining traceability and acceptable quality standards. The Quality Technician 2 will work within the Quality Assurance Department and will report directly to the Sr. Manager of Quality Assurance. This position requires the ability to work any shift as dictated by production requirements (1st, 2nd or 3rd), the ability to work overtime, weekends and shifts of 10 to 12 hours per day. This position is designated as a 2nd shift position.Your day to day as a Quality Technician for NOGJ (2nd Shift):Create and maintain accurate records including records of inspectionPrepare simple to complex reportsRead and interpret complex drawingsEffectively present information to customers, client departments and other employees within the organizationRead, interpret and understand written or verbal requirements, procedures and specifications to perform assigned tasksPrepare inspection reportsRecord and maintain accurate records and filesPrioritize work to meet critical deadlinesFollow Safety PracticesWork effectively in a team environment and interface effectively with all levels of employees within the organizationPerform mathematical calculations accurately and efficientlyPerform visual inspection or productSet-up inspection processesInspection of in-process or finished productInitiation, preparation and follow through of inspection reports to include screening, rework and re-inspectionCompile and prepare reports; Perform statistical analysisPerformance of all types of inspection processes including use of micrometers, indicators, CMM, comparators, vision equipment, etcAccept or reject material based on approved inspection equipment and methodsAssume lead/supervisory role, as requiredReview and make suggestions for changes to inspector plans, inspector procedures for processes defined by EngineeringWork with customer representatives for lot acceptanceAssist Manufacturing with troubleshooting quality deficient productsProvide support and give recommendations during auditsMaintain quality documents/reports per proceduresMaintain a clean and safe work environment and work areaPerform work in other areas of the facility as requiredRequired Qualifications:Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or an Associate's degree with 2 years of related experience.Selected candidate may be required to complete training and certifications in two or more non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.Demonstrated knowledge of all standard measuring and gaging equipment, quality standards and techniques; applicable laws, codes, ordinances, and regulations, non-destructive and destruction testing techniques and principles; gaging methods and sampling plansAbility to read and interpret simple to complex blueprints and engineering DrawingsAbility to perform visual setup and dimensional inspection of complex parts and assembliesIntermediate math skills.Calibration and Metrology principles Techniques, tools and instruments involved in the use of precision technical plans, inspection plans, blueprints, drawings and/or modelsMicrosoft Office, Word, Excel, and OutlookFamiliarity with Statistical Process Control methodsRequires the ability to interface with all levels of personnel and work in a team environmentMust be able to wear and use personal protective equipment including but not limited to safety shoes, eyeglasses, coveralls, ear plugs and various monitoring equipmentRequires the ability to pass a visual acuity exam upon hire and annually thereafter (Near Vision must meet the Jaeger #1 test at less than 12 inches with one eye, natural or corrected) (NAS410)Effective verbal and written communication skills are essentialAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environmentMust be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenshipMust be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) clearanceMust be able to work any shift.
