Test Engineer
Overview
As a Test Engineer at Hermeus, you will contribute to designing, building, and operating test assets for hypersonic vehicle subsystems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop test plans, fixtures, and protocols, while advancing test infrastructure and process improvements. Your work will help validate high-performance systems in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. ResponsibilitiesLead design, development, manufacture, implementation and ongoing maintenance of test assets (facilities, fixtures and rigs)Design test fixtures, tooling, adapters, panels and other hardware for test rigs and setupsDevelop test plans, procedures, and protocols for vehicle subsystemsOperate and troubleshoot fluid and mechanical systems including pumps, motors, heat exchangers, high voltage components, test fixtures, tubing and fittingsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to align on testing requirementsMaintain detailed records of test procedures, results and findings; contribute to technical reportsIdentify opportunities for process improvement and enhance test infrastructure
Key requirementsBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related fieldIndustry experience owning a project through full lifecycle in aerospace or high-performance engineeringStrong working knowledge of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, mechanics of materials, and mechanical designExcellent problem solving and attention to detailCreative, outside-the-box thinkingStrong communication and collaboration abilitiesCAD software (NX preferred)Knowledge of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, mechanics of materials, mechanical designExperience with hydraulic and high-voltage systems (where applicable)
