This role will be instrumental in building, refining, and executing core accounting processes for a rapidly growing company. Reporting to the Accounting Director, they will take ownership of day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and scalability of financial processes. Day-to-DayOwn and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with a focus on accuracy and timelinessPrepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedulesMaintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAPAnalyze financial results and investigate variances, providing clear insights to leadershipAssist in the preparation of financial statements and management reporting packagesBuild, document, and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controlsIdentify inefficiencies and implement process improvements to enhance scalability and accuracyEstablish a disciplined close calendar and enforce accountability across departmentsSupport system enhancements or implementations as neededOversee day-to-day accounting functions including AP, AR, payroll, and cash managementEnsure proper revenue recognition and expense classification Partner with operations to ensure accurate project/job-level financial trackingPrepare audit-ready schedules and documentation to support external audit processesAssist in coordinating with external auditors and ensuring timely completion of audit deliverablesMaintain compliance with lender reporting requirements and internal controlsServe as a key partner to the CFO, taking ownership of tactical accounting responsibilitiesCollaborate with operations and other departments to improve financial visibility and disciplinePotentially supervise and mentor junior accounting staff as the company grows QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting and/or industry)Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reportingExperience in a private equity-backed or high-growth environment is highly preferredProven ability to build and improve accounting processes in a hands-on capacityStrong attention to detail with the ability to operate both tactically and strategicallyProficiency in accounting systems and Excel Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
