The Police Fleet Coordinator, under the general direction of the Court Security Sergeant and in collaboration with the City & County of Broomfield's Fleet Division, provides support services to the Police Department relative to the acquisition, maintenance, and repair of police vehicles and associated equipment. Primary responsibilities include inspecting vehicles, coordinating maintenance and repair with the Fleet Division, and detailing/fueling vehicles as required.

Starting pay is determined based on years of relevant experience, with applicants with little to no experience in fleet maintenance or management being eligible for the starting amount listed above.

Selection Process: Our selection process includes the following steps: application review, virtual one-sided interview, phone screen, in-person panel interview, Computer Voice Stress Analysis, psychological suitability evaluation, background investigation, and post-offer physical evaluation.
Essential Required Tasks/Examples of DutiesChecks police vehicles bumper to bumper, including belts, hoses, filters, tires, oil, and cooling systems, as well as necessary police equipment.
Performs minor vehicle services, including checking and refilling fluids, airing tires, and replacing police equipment.
Reports vehicle issues using the VDR system and coordinates repairs with Fleet Division.
Receives notification for vehicle maintenance appointments. Coordinates the transport of police vehicles to/from the Fleet Maintenance Facility. Inspects vehicles prior to sending to the facility to ensure all evidence, firearms, or otherwise sensitive material has been removed and stored appropriately.
Coordinates with Fleet Maintenance for vehicle transportation to and from outside vendors as needed.
Cleans vehicle exteriors and interiors on an as-needed basis.
Checks fuel levels and fuels vehicles prior to shift change.
Identifies and performs minor repairs and diagnostics for all police equipment, including license plate readers, low jacks, mobile radios, handsets, radars/Lidars, Brazos printers, and P/A systems. Coordinates with other divisions and outside vendors for necessary repairs/maintenance.
Purchases and maintains inventory of PD equipment and supplies. Cleans/organizes equipment storage areas.
Tracks and maintains SIM cards, aliases, and all other components related to emergency radios and inventory.
Inventories all police vehicles quarterly, including verifying license plates, VINs, and patrol & express toll numbers). Assists with obtaining and installing new license plates, registration stickers, and insurance cards.
Shovels snow in front of immediate doors, sprinkles ice-melt, and clears snow from patrol cars during snowstorms.
Applies knowledge of work safety rules and procedures when handling firearms, evidence, or biohazardous materials.
Minimum QualificationsTraining - High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience One year of experience working with fleet vehicles required. Prior experience working with police organizations and vehicles strongly preferred. Knowledge and experience with the safe handling of firearms preferred.
Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however, education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, CVSA, reference checks, background checks including local police check and sex-offender registry, medical examination, pre-psychological exam, drug screening and fingerprint check through CBI/FBI.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's license and safe driving record for continued employment.

Working ConditionsWork is generally scheduled Monday through Friday with occasional weekends, on-call duty, and working all hours during emergency situations as needed.
Regular, predictable attendance required.
