DescriptionOverall position description:Fabricate wire and cable harness assemblies using appropriate tools and documentationEssential functions of the job:Communicate with supervisors and managersRead, understand, and interpret drawings, bills of material, and other documentation with minimal supervisionCut and strip wire to specificationsCrimp terminals to wire endsInsert pins in connectorsInstall and shrink insulation sleevingInstall cable tiesAssemble simple harnessesPerform mechanical assemblyAssist in the training of Cable Assembly 1 employeesRequirementsRead, Write, and speak EnglishUnderstand, and execute instruction from managementAbility to read drawings and wiring diagramsUse appropriate hand tools to cut, strip, pin, and tin wireUse automated machinery for cutting, stripping, and pinning wireRoute and tie cable assembliesRequired education and experience:Prefer a high school diploma or 2-4 years’ experience fabrication cable harnessMust be able to obtain or be currently certified to: Workmanship Requirements for Electronics and Cable Assemblies in accordance with IPC J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620A description of the physical demands:Must be capable of performing repetitive motion tasks.Sufficient strength in hands to use hand tools for extended periods to crimp pins on wiresMust be able to differentiate colorsAbility to lift and carry 30 poundsAbility to sit and/or stand for 2-hour periodsRegularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and armsA description of Safety requirements:Safety glasses required when cutting wire with hand tools or cleaning with alcohol.
