Visit www.uapcompany.com for more information.ObjectiveThe Technical Designer and Senior Designer support all phases of project delivery—from concept and estimation through design development and production. This role works closely with Business Development, Project Management, Estimation and Production teams to translate artistic intent into buildable, cost-effective solutions. The ideal candidate will be based at our Rock Tavern, New York workshop. Occasional travel to project sites, and/or vendor facilities may be required. Key ResponsibilitiesConcept & Pre-Contract SupportSupport Business Development and Estimation with concept design, renderings, and preliminary modelsParticipate in pipeline and pre-contract meetingsDevelop early-stage 3D models, scans, and design assets for proposalsCollaborate with artists/clients during concept developmentDesign DevelopmentReview project documentation to define scope, risks, and design approachDevelop design schedules and deliverables with Project ManagersCoordinate with artists, engineers, and internal teamsProduce 3D models and design documentation using tools such as Rhino, SolidWorks, or ZBrushPrepare design submittals for stakeholder review and approvalProduction DesignRefine 3D models and scans into production-ready assetsDevelop fabrication methodologies in collaboration with workshop teamsCreate detailed production drawings, assembly documentation, and BOMsDesign mounting, rigging, crating, and installation strategiesSupport manufacturing processes including 3D printing, and castingSenior Designer (Additional Expectations)Operate with a high level of autonomy and limited oversightLead development of fabrication strategies and design executionTranslate artistic intent, constraints, and risks into clear deliverablesCoordinate effectively across design, engineering, and production teamsAnticipate project risks, manage scope changes, and guide project directionMentor others and contribute to team development Experience & QualificationsDesigner | Associate: 5+ yearsDesigner | Senior Associate: 7+ yearsProficiency in Rhino, SolidWorks, ZBrush, Magics, and Adobe SuiteStrong 3D modeling, drafting, and design documentation skillsExperience working across design, engineering, and fabrication workflowsEffective communication and collaboration skills(Senior) Advanced understanding of fabrication methods, project lifecycle, and structural coordination Physical RequirementsAbility to sit for extended periods while working at a computer and using design softwareFrequent use of hands and fingers for typing, mouse use, and handling design tools or materialsAbility to view and interpret detailed drawings, plans, and computer screens for prolonged periodsOccasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching while reviewing prototypes, materials, or equipmentAbility to lift and carry light to moderate items (typically up to 25–30 lbs), such as samples, drawings, or toolsMay require occasional visits to manufacturing facilities, workshops, or job sites, which can involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and environmentsAbility to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required in shop or field settingsAbility to travel occasionally to vendor sites, job sites, or other company locations Compensation & BenefitsDesigner: $88,698 – $111,712 annuallySenior Designer: $98,781 – $124,227 annually Medical, dental, and vision insurance.Flexible spending accounts (medical and dependent care).Commuter and transit programs.401(k) retirement savings plan with 4% company match.Company-paid short-term and long-term disability and life insurance.Paid holidays, Paid Time Off, and sick leaveOpportunities for professional growth and advancement.
