Med-Surg Nurse (RN) in Jackson, MS

A 12-hour shift role is available for experienced Registered Nurses skilled in Med-Surg care, including trauma and post-surgical patient management. This contract position covers a 32-bed Med Surg 3 North unit that serves trauma, burn overflow, and high-acuity medical-surgical patients. Assignments involve a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:6, adjusted for acuity as needed.Key Responsibilities:Care for trauma patients (GSW, MVA, falls), post-surgical, and general medsurg cases.Manage patients with lines, chest tubes, and titratable drips such as heparin and amiodarone.Monitor patients via telemonitor systems in coordination with central monitoring stations.Collaborate with charge nurses and house supervisors who also may take patient assignments.Float among Med Surg units in accordance with skill level and staffing needs.Complete unit-specific orientation including paperwork, Epic/Omnicell access, and preceptored shifts.Qualifications:Active RN license with Med Surg experience in a high-acuity hospital environment.Current BLS certification; ACLS required for charge nurses.Comfortable managing complex lines, chest tubes, and titratable drips.Experience with trauma and burn overflow patients preferred.Ability to work 12-hour shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a) on a 7 on/7 off schedule, including weekends every other or sometimes 2 per month.Flexibility to rotate holidays and float between med-surg units.Scheduling & Work Environment:12-hour shifts, 7a-7p or 7p-7a.Weekend rotations and holiday coverage required.No call or standby obligations.Professional solid color scrubs required.Location Overview: Position is based in a vibrant city in Mississippi known for its rich cultural heritage, diverse culinary scene, and welcoming southern hospitality.
