Psychiatrist - Child

Psychiatrist - Child Salary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on position requirements and successful candidate qualifications, subject to appropriate authorization. Premium Pay Qualified employees meeting specified criteria receive an additional $0.70 per hour. Board‑certified Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists receive an additional $1,000 monthly. Additional Compensation Five (5) days of conference leave per year. Education and professional reimbursement up to $10,000 per year. No on‑call responsibilities. Flexible work schedules may be available. Psychiatrist educational loan repayment program: up to $22,500 per payment, maximum 10 payments. Vacation and healthcare leave accrual varies by service hours and can be found in the county policy documents. Twelve paid holidays per year. Opportunity This position provides psychiatric services to children and youth in outpatient clinics. Responsibilities include: Conducting psychiatric evaluations on schedule or in a crisis situation. Ordering laboratory tests. Gathering medical, psychiatric, and social information from various sources. Creating treatment plans involving medication or other therapeutic approaches. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team within the HCA and partnering agencies. Desirable Qualifications & Core Competencies Board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Completion of a 2‑year fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry. Bilingual skills highly desirable but not required. Professional & Technical Expertise Prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of serious mental illness. Clearing patients from acute mental crises. Providing care during psychiatric emergencies, including life‑support measures. Managing patients experiencing mood swings, anxiety, anger, substance abuse, and other major mental illnesses. Treating patients with addiction and drug withdrawal by recognizing withdrawal symptoms. Implementing psychiatric treatment guidelines to meet state and federal mandates. Knowledge of predictors of physical aggression in psychiatric patients. Proficient use of an electronic health record (EHR) to monitor status, document services, enter orders, and determine medical necessity. Maintain effective relationships with staff, patients, and others. Show interest in and understanding of patients’ needs and circumstances. Teamwork | Delegating Collaborate with program personnel, community agencies, families, court personnel, hospitals, and other county agencies. Coordinate with other physicians providing medical care for the same patient. Delegate assignments to nurses, psychologists, social workers, and other personnel on treatment teams. Foster a positive work environment and value teamwork. Oral Communication | Writing Prepare clear and concise medical and mental health records and reports.
