Physician Assistant | Surgery - General/Other Location: New York Employer: Barton Associates Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Start Date: ASAP About the Position Our client in New York is seeking a General Surgery Physician Assistant for a 60-day assignment beginning Aug 24, 2026. This role involves a dynamic schedule combining day shifts (7a-3p) with weekday and weekend call coverage. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care to hospitalized patients, encompassing surgical first assist duties in the operating room and extensive surgical floor coverage, including managing rounding, progress notes, orders, discharges, and consults. Responsibilities and Duties Provide comprehensive care to hospitalized patients, working closely with physicians and healthcare teams. Perform surgical first assist duties in the operating room. Cauterize wounds and vessels. Pack sponges in body cavities and position patients to maintain circulation and surgeon access. Place clamps and sutures. Close skin with adhesives, sutures, or staples. Apply direct pressure on veins and tissue. Perform or aid in patient suction, drainage, and irrigation. Manage hemostasis, the stopping of excess bleeding and blood flow. Immobilize patients on the operating table. Assist with rounding and progress notes for surgical floor coverage. Manage orders, discharges, and consults for patients. Work primarily with General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedic patients.
