Job Overview The CCU RN provides specialized, high-acuity nursing care to patients experiencing acute cardiac conditions such as myocardial infarction, heart failure, arrhythmias, and post-cardiac procedures. The nurse utilizes advanced clinical judgment, critical thinking, and cardiac monitoring skills to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced intensive care environment. RN01 Key Responsibilities Provide direct care to critically ill cardiac patients using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms (telemetry, ECG), vital signs, and hemodynamic data. Administer cardiac medications including vasoactive drips, antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants, and IV infusions. Manage patients on ventilators, temporary pacemakers, arterial lines, central lines, and other critical care equipment. Respond promptly to cardiac emergencies including Code Blue situations. Collaborate with cardiologists, intensivists, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care. Educate patients and families regarding cardiac conditions, procedures, medications, and lifestyle modifications. Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to hospital policies and regulatory standards. Delegate and supervise ancillary staff while maintaining patient safety and quality care. Participate in discharge planning and transition of care for cardiac patients. Required Qualification 2 years of RN Critical care Experience required RN license in the state of Indiana or a Compact state.
