# Backend Software Engineer – Python/Django## About the RoleAevus is seeking a **Backend Software Engineer** with strong Python experience to build, maintain, and modernize production SaaS systems serving membership organizations, associations, and golf clubs. This role focuses on backend services, APIs, data workflows, integrations, and safe development within a multi-tenant environment.You will work with Python, Django, PostgreSQL, Docker, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, and AI-assisted development tools. The role also involves maintaining an established codebase, reviewing AI-generated code, supporting production systems, and taking ownership of features from investigation through deployment and ongoing support.## Key Responsibilities* Build and support backend services, APIs, and data workflows using **Python, Django, and PostgreSQL**.* Develop and maintain software within a multi-tenant SaaS environment.* Write clear, well-scoped GitHub Issues that translate product requirements into actionable development tasks.* Review and audit AI-generated pull requests for security issues, edge cases, test coverage, and architectural fit.* Develop and maintain integrations with payment gateways, direct debit providers, accounting software, and point-of-sale platforms.* Maintain and modernize an established production codebase while ensuring safe changes across tenants.* Work within GitHub Actions CI/CD processes, including branch-based delivery, automated testing, and merge queues.* Help improve CI/CD and software delivery processes.* Support migration of legacy pipelines and repositories to current infrastructure.* Take features from investigation and development through deployment and production support.* Document technical work and solutions.* Learn and contribute to Aevus's AI-assisted software development workflow.* Take increasing ownership of engineering responsibilities over time.## Required Qualifications* **3+ years of experience** writing and delivering production software.* Strong backend **Python** development skills.* Experience maintaining and supporting an existing production codebase.* Solid relational database experience.* Working knowledge of API design and asynchronous processing.* Experience with branch-based development workflows, pull requests, and CI/CD practices.* Real-world experience using AI coding tools, with the ability to critically evaluate AI-generated output.* Ability to work independently and communicate clearly.* Legal authorization to work full-time in the United States.* Must currently reside in **Texas**.## Preferred Qualifications* Experience with **Django** or a comparable backend framework.* Experience with **PostgreSQL**.* Experience working with multi-tenant SaaS platforms.* Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.* Experience with payment, accounting, direct debit, or point-of-sale integrations.* Experience migrating legacy pipelines or repositories to modern infrastructure.* Familiarity with Vue 3, JavaScript, TypeScript, LESS, or SASS.* Knowledge of REST, OAuth, SAML, and Playwright.## Technologies & Skills* **Backend:** Python, Django* **Databases:** PostgreSQL* **Cloud & Infrastructure:** Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud* **Development & CI/CD:** GitHub, BitBucket, GitHub Actions, CI/CD* **Frontend:** Vue, Vue 3, JavaScript, TypeScript, LESS, SASS* **APIs & Security:** REST, API, OAuth, SAML, Security* **Testing:** Playwright* **AI:** AI coding tools and AI coding agents## Work Arrangement* **Location:** Texas, United States* Remote work within Texas may be considered.* Aevus prefers candidates who can be based near its office in **Hughes Landing, The Woodlands, Texas**.* Some in-person attendance may be required for major releases or large client onboarding.* Full-time employment.## Compensation & Benefits* **Salary:** $80,000–$95,000 per year, depending on experience.* Health insurance contribution.* Paid time off plus federal holidays.* Retirement plan.* Opportunity to grow as Aevus's first engineering hire in the U.S.## About AevusAevus builds modern SaaS platforms for membership organizations, associations, and golf clubs.
