The core principle for all employees at AKIRA is to Act and Think Like an Owner, and this belief can be reflected across all areas of the company.The Position: Construction TechnicianLocation: Bolingbrook, IL, onsiteJob Type: Full TimePosition OverviewWe are seeking a Construction Technician to support the AKIRA Construction & Facilities team with store openings, rebuilds, and ongoing maintenance projects. The ideal candidate will possess basic construction skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.ResponsibilitiesAssist in new store openings and rebuilds, including: Sanding, painting, cutting, and building in-store fixturesInstalling appliances and equipment at store locationsTransport materials to and from job sitesSupport skilled trades (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, masons) as neededOperate hand tools and power tools (saws, drills, etc.) safely and effectivelyPerform equipment inspections and routine maintenance on toolsMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environmentFollow all safety protocols and company guidelinesTravel to various Chicagoland locations and occasionally out of stateRespond to urgent facilities needs outside of standard business hours (occasional nights and weekends)RequirementsValid driver's license and reliable transportationFull-time availability (40+ hours/week)Ability to lift 50 lbs and climb laddersWillingness to travel as requiredStrong adherence to safety practices and attention to detailIdeal Candidate AttributesBasic construction knowledge and hands-on experienceProficient with hand and power toolsWoodworking, carpentry, and fixture building skills a plusBasic technical proficiency (email, Zendesk ticketing, etc.)Ability to read and understand technical manuals and drawingsResponsive, team-oriented, and adaptable to shifting prioritiesFlexible availability and willingness to respond to urgent needs outside typical hoursBenefits And PerksAKIRA offers competitive benefits for full-time employees, including medical, dental, vision, pet insurance, life insurance, LTD, FSA/HSA, Dependent Care FSA, Flex Transit (CTA), 401(k), and employee discounts. The starting pay range for this position is $17.00 an hour, based on experience and qualifications.
