Teacher CTE Law and Public Safety 2026-2027

Job OverviewThe Teacher CTE Law and Public Safety will plan and implement an instructional program and provide related educational services for students in assigned grade levels. The incumbent will manage student behavior, assess and evaluate student achievement, and modify/control instructional activities as required. Instructional delivery will provide students with real world experiences relevant to the industry today. Any teacher who will coach a UIL sport will also provide athletic services related to that athletic sport and the athletic program.Position DescriptionEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClassroom Instruction and Student ManagementAssess student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes and provide instruction to grow student abilitiesMaintain appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting purposesPlan appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities including determination of appropriate level of materialsImplement an instructional program which provides appropriate learning experiences, considering different learning styles and a range of learning curvesAssist and participate in the management of student behavior in instructional settings, including school grounds, centers, and work sites, to ensure environment is conducive to the learning process; intervene to control and modify disruptive behavior, reporting to appropriate administratorUtilize a variety of instructional materials and available multi-media and computer technology to enhance learningManage allotted learning time to maximize student achievementEnsure classroom and/or instructional environment is attractive, beneficial, safe and conducive to learning while ensuring materials are accessible to students and in good conditionProgram FacilitationMaintain safety in classroomsMaintain accurate annual asset inventory reportsMaintain timely and accurate budget and accountability reportsCommunication and CollaborationCommunicate regularly with students on instructional expectations and keep them informed of their progressEnsure continuous communication with parents, both written and oral, to keep them informed of student(s) progressRequest assistance and work with resource personnel to ensure student growthCollaborate with other professionals, including counselors and librarians, to carry out school-wide instructional or related activitiesSupport and/or participate in school-wide student activities and social events and approved fund raising activitiesAssign work and supervise instructional assistants, parent, and student volunteers, as neededProfessional GrowthActively participate in professional learning, staff development, in-service activities and staff meetingsStay abreast of current industry standardsMaintain current certifications and licensesIf the position is tied to coaching a UIL sport, the following essential duties and responsibilities are applicable to coaching:Perform coaching duties as assigned as well as other duties required for the smooth, efficient operation of a successful athletic programPossess knowledge and adhere to UIL rules and regulationsAssist the Athletic Department with budget, schedules, care/use of facilitiesCommunicate with the Athletic Department on a regular basisSupervisory ResponsibilitiesNoneQualification RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above essential duties satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essentials functions.Bachelor's degree in appropriate field including course work in the subject or program to which assigned upon hireMaster's degree preferredValid Appropriate CTE Teaching Certification, issued by Texas Education Agency or has received statement of eligibilityValid Law or Public Safety Industry license or Certification appropriate for the teaching assignmentRequired Compliance TrainingValid Driver's license with CDL Certification preferred if coaching a UIL sportMinimum of 2 years of wage earning work experience within the last 10 years Qualifying Fields: Law Enforcement and Public SafetyCoaching experience preferred if coaching a UIL sportDemonstrated knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialtyDemonstrated knowledge of appropriate technology equipment and software programsProven ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programsAbility to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives including the needs and abilities of studentsAbility to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parentsExcellent communication skills, both oral and writtenPhysical Requirements/Working ConditionsThe work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.Additional InformationThis position requires a significant amount of time standing, bending, reaching, lifting, and moving. Supplies and equipment specific to CTE instruction may weigh as much as 50 pounds.
