As an Engineering Technician – Level 1 located in Gilbert, AZ, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one.Northrop Grumman Western Region Manufacturing & Operations is seeking an Engineering Technician Level 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Gilbert, AZ supporting MLI Manufacturing.This position entails the manufacture of aerospace thermal blankets, comprised of thin, fragile films sewn and taped together. Working in the Multi-Layer Insulation lab (MLI).Key ResponsibilitiesThis role involves the precise fabrication, assembly, and installation of thermal insulation blanketsThe ideal candidate will have strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and experience working with specialized materials in a fast-paced environmentFabricate custom thermal blankets based on engineering drawings, patterns, and technical specificationsMeasure, cut, sew, and assemble thermal insulation materials such as reflective films and foilsOperate industrial sewing machines, hot knives, and other fabrication tools safely and accuratelyApply binding, Velcro, snaps, and other fasteners to thermal blankets as requiredPerform quality control checks to ensure accuracy, proper fit, and compliance with specificationsRead and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematicsCollaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve fabrication issues or suggest improvementsMaintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety protocolsTrack materials used and maintain documentation for traceabilityMay assist with on-site installation or fitting of thermal blankets in equipment or systemsHot knives and cutting toolsThis Manufacturing Technician should be capable and experienced in working in a broad based manufacturing environment. Technician will work with a team of several people including Manufacturing Engineers and Production Planners. This position will ultimately report to an Operations Manager.The candidate must work well alone and within a team environment. Must be a self-starter, self-motivated, and a team player. Familiarization with ESD, FOD, 5S, and Tool Control.Basic QualificationsA minimum of a High School diploma/GED and 0 years of job-related/manufacturing experience is requiredMust have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government clearanceMust possess good problem solving skills, organizational skills, communication skills, and work with limited supervisionAbility to work with Microsoft Office products and process documentationPreferred Qualifications For Both LevelsAerospace Industry manufacturing experienceExperience with sewing machines or textile industriesExperience with TipQA, Costpoint, Windchill, MES, Solumina, COGNOS, or other ERP and enterprise softwareActive U.S. Government TS/SCI clearancePrimary Level Salary Range: $23.00 - $28.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
