Sr. Engineer
Position Summary:As a Senior HVAC Designer/Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader within the Building Engineering team, guiding complex project designs while collaborating with engineers, field craft-people, Owners, Architects, and building code officials to achieve project goals. This role takes ownership of project plans, mentors junior engineering staff, and ensures high-quality deliverables are completed on time and within scope. Senior Engineers drive continuous improvement by developing and refining design processes, evaluating emerging technologies, and contributing to the growth and technical direction of the department.Duties and Responsibilities:Perform heating and cooling load calculations with standard industry software (Carrier HAP or Trane Trace, or similar software)Perform hands-on Building Information Modeling using the Autodesk REVIT platformUnderstand both constant and variable flow air and water systems, and properly apply equipment to work with these systemsUnderstand fan and pump curves to properly select equipment for the intended applicationCommunicate with equipment vendors to determine requirements for applying productsPerform field verification and take-offs of existing systems for renovation projectsSelect, specify, and schedule major equipment independently; serve as a technical resource for junior engineers on equipment selectionDesign and layout both air and water-side systems in working BIM modelsCoordinate with other disciplines and trades, including fire protection, electrical, plumbing, architectural and structural.Understand work planning and manage the design process to complete a project designAssure drawings and designs are in accordance with local codes and design standardsParticipate in design review meetings and workshops with Owners and other project stakeholdersLead resolution of complex design challenges, including conflicting project requirements, budget constraints, and application of diverse system types or challenging field conditions; provide guidance to the broader team on approach and best practicesPreferred Knowledge, Experience & Skills Requirements:A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an accredited university8 or more years of experience in designing HVAC systems for industrial, health care, hospitality, or commercial projects, with a demonstrated track record of leading complex, large-scale designsProficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT MEP is required; demonstrated ability to model complex systems and lead BIM coordination effortsGood written and verbal communication skillsProfessional Engineer (PE) registration recognized by a state licensing board is strongly preferred; active pursuit of licensure expected if not yet obtainedKnowledge in building controls is preferredOccasional travel to project sites, client locations, and other Tweet/Garot shop and office facilitiesThese statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by teammates assigned to this job classification.
