The ideal candidate is a seasoned litigator who is very comfortable at the counsel table or courtroom and someone who can manage complex matters from inception through settlement and who brings a business-minded approach to every case.This role offers a direct path to leadership and opportunities to grow your own book of business, with dedicated mentorship and firm support for business development.WHAT SETS THIS ROLE APARTFull-cycle litigation responsibility from pre-litigation through settlement and/or trialClear path to leadership and management within the firmMentorship and structured support for business development and book growthHybrid work schedule with a collaborative, entrepreneurial cultureHigh-quality, complex matters across diverse industriesRESPONSIBILITIESManage and litigate employment defense matters in state and federal court, including single-plaintiff and class/PAGA actionsDraft and argue motions, including dispositive motions, discovery motions, and pre-trial filingsTake and defend depositions of witnesses, experts, and corporate representativesDevelop and execute case strategy in coordination with clients and firm partnersHandle government agency investigations, audits, and administrative proceedings (DFEH, EEOC, DLSE, NLRB)Manage discovery, including written discovery, document review, and e-discoveryAttend mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trial proceedingsAdvise clients on employment practices, risk mitigation, and litigation exposureProvide regular case updates and strategic counsel to clients and partnersParticipate in business development activities and contribute to firm initiativesQUALIFICATIONSJ.D. from an ABA-accredited law schoolCurrent membership in good standing with the California State BarMinimum 7 years of employment litigation experience, with a strong preference for employment defenseDemonstrated experience managing cases through trial, mediation or arbitrationFamiliarity with California and federal employment laws (FEHA, FLSA, FMLA, Title VII, NLRA, PAGA, Labor Code)Experience handling wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and/or PAGA mattersPrior experience in a law firm or professional services environmentExcellent research, drafting, and oral advocacy skillsDetail-oriented with strong organizational and case management abilitiesSelf-motivated; able to manage a demanding caseload, work collaboratively, and think strategicallyWarm, calm, and professional communication style with colleagues, clients, and opposing counselProfessional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills and an engaging personalityProficient in Microsoft Office Suite, law firm billing, and case management softwareCOMPENSATIONSalary is commensurate with experience and performance metrics.
